Description: This seminar probes the Windows Server 2003 operating system software and hardware environment from the perspective of someone interested in performance management and capacity planning for large scale Windows server deployments. It discusses the performance characteristics of the hardware components to run Windows Server 2003 in detail, including Intel 32-bit and 64-bit processor hardware, hyperthreading, symmetric multiprocessing options, storage, and high speed networking options. It also describes the various tuning options available to the Windows Server 2003 systems administrator and their relevance to Windows Server Domain controllers, file and print servers, .NET Framework applications, COM+ application servers, database servers, Web servers, and MS Exchange servers.

Mr. Friedman is a recognized authority in operating systems and hardware performance. He has taught popular seminars on Windows performance, mainframe performance, and storage management around the world. He recently wrote the volume on performance and capacity planning in the official Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit documentation, to be published by Microsoft Press in May 2005. He is also the author of Windows 2000 Performance Guide (with Dr. Odysseas Pentakalos), published by O'Reilly Associates in February 2002, and over one hundred articles on performance-oriented topics. Since 1995, he has been working primarily with Microsoft Windows technology.
